Italian, circa 1860s.
This large antique shell cameo is superbly carved after either Tommaso or Luigi Saulini with Peace (depicted as a winged youth) Halting the Horses of Mars. The cameo is set in an 18K gold bezel with a folding bail and a pin and could be worn as a pendant or a brooch.
The gold bezel measures 58 x 47 mm (2 1/4 x 1 13/16 in.)
