Vienna, circa 1930s
This vintage Art Deco era necklace features an 18K gold and platinum pendant suspended from a 14K gold chain. The pendant centers on an octagonal step cut amethyst of vivid lavender-purple hue, displaying delicate flashes of pink. The 18K gold and platinum bezel is designed as stylized flowing ribbons, accented with five old European and transitional cut diamonds.
The measures 19.76 x 15.72 x 10.80 mm and is approximately 22 carats.
Estimated total diamond weight is 1.40 carats. The principal diamond is approximately 0.68 ct.
Both the chain and the pendant were made in Vienna and bear Austrian elephant and horse head assay marks. The pendant also marked with a maker’s mark and a 750 gold standard.
