circa 1900
This very large antique Russian egg pendant is finely crafted in pinkish-yellow and green 14K gold. One side of the egg is applied with an elaborate silver “XB” monogram – an abbreviation for “Christ is Risen” – accented with an old mine cut diamond. The monogram is further accented with an impressed design surrounding it. The sides of the egg are encircled by a band of chased gold laurel leaves.
The egg is unmarked.
This is the largest egg pendant we have ever encountered. The smaller, regular-size gold egg shown in the images is sold separately and is included for size comparison only.
Height without suspension ring is 28 mm (1 1/8 in.)
