This rare Russian Imperial presentation brass tobacco case is an excellent example of Faberge’s World War I objects. The case was gifted to a wounded soldier on behalf of Tsar Nicholas II on Easter or Christmas of 1915.
The cover is decorated with a repoussé tsarist double headed eagle and inscription THE WAR 1914 * 1915 K.FABERGE.
There is an engraving inside the case: hospital in the house of the Governor of Moscow.
The eagle emblem and letter font refflect Russian Moderne style of the 1910s, which was influenced by the country’s medieval art and European Art Nouveau.

Weight 122 grams.
