An Exceptionally Rare And Highly Important Dated Russian Glass Tumbler From The Reign of Empress Anna Ioanovna.
height 3 5/8 in. (9,4 cm)
The front is engraved with an Imperial monogram, the back with a double headed Russian tsarist eagle.
The elaborate monogram beneath Russian Imperial crown could be deciphered as
ANNA IOANOVNA EMPRESS AND AUTOCRAT.
The sides of the tumbler are engraved with the date 17 – 34.
Russian glass from the first half of the 18th century is extremely rare in general. Most pieces which appear on the market today are from the reigns of Elizabeth (1741-1761) and Catherine II (1762-1796).
A dated 18th century Russian glass is a great rarity.
