Grenadier Mitre Cap 1761-1762. The front plate (silver plated brass) is chased in high relief with Imperial eagle, cypher of the emperor Peter III surrounded by trophies and two laying lions. All original fabrics and leather. No parts have been replaced. Height 9 1/4 in. (24 cm)

Karl Peter Ulrich (1739-1762), Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorp and a grand son of Peter I the Great, became Emperor of Russia in 1761 – Peter III, he was overthrown by his wife – Catherine (later Catherine II ) in the summer 1762.
